A Crafted Practice in Art & Words Workshop Series
SUMMER: Forest of Inspiration
In collaboration with the incredibly talented visual artist, Erin Schantz-Hilton, Annalee is offering a live virtual workshop in art and words. Erin and Annalee have been best friends since childhood and have finally built an immersive class experience to tap into our innate and authentic creative selves. This series aims to facilitate and inspire a practice of spontaneous creativity within a theme of seasonal shifts and selves. The co-teachers will bring their expertise and decades of combined experience in visual art, writing, teaching, and interdisciplinary studies into this vibrant workshop brewed from years of their own active relationships with the arts.
Join this guided class in art & words to explore your own “forest of inspiration” and the spontaneity of craft using gathered items, rubbings, and mementos you already have. We will embrace layers, create a poem (or two), and build a piece sourced from our own "forests".
Annalee & Erin have an experienced & embracing approach to access the Creative in each of us...
This class is for creatives of ANY level and skill (beginners who claim they "aren't artistic" are especially encouraged to attend!)

Supplies list to have on hand is simple: thick card stock or poster board or BETTER YET...a slab of plywood, tracing paper, pencils & pens & paints if you have them, and IMPORTANT: scraps of paper gathered from those piles or boxes of saved greeting cards, letters, flyers of events, newspaper clippings...the saved paper debris of life's mementos...etc.
A detailed list of additional optional supplies is emailed when signed up.

Workshop format will be prompted and guided exercises Annalee and Erin have carefully designed around drawing & paper arts, writing techniques, and the fluid concept of "self portrait" and visioning. With deep breaths & pauses between for invited visioning of your creative self speaking up when you give it a chance to.
Expect to leave with a new piece that may very well continue forward in your days as a LIVING work of art. And as always, new ideas to continue growing and making at home, and a supportive community of others who speak the same language of "living through art"
